JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Secretary Monitor Tech - ICU
DEPARTMENT: Intensive Care Unit
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR JOB TITLE: Director of Intensive Care Unit
Position Summary
Attends the critical care nursing and monitors, performs clerical tasks, and provides holistic nursing care for critically ill patients and families from infants to elderly for the best outcomes for the patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
Essential Functions
- Continuous presence and visualization of central cardiac monitors with immediate and appropriate response to abnormalities and/or alarms
- Collaborates with Registered Nurse to ensure effective holistic patient care deliver and achievement of desired patient outcomes
- Documents patient care to reflect complete picture of plan or care, including interpretations of central cardiac monitors for ICU and Med Surg telemetry patients
- Integrates experience and critical thinking skills to ensure safe patient care within scope of practice
- Completes organizational and department tasks
Non-essential Functions
- Completes duty checklists as assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- The 24 hour operations of the department requires a weekend and holiday rotation
- Successful completion of EKG Course
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS

Physical Requirements
Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
