TITLE: System Analyst / Network Administrator

DEPARTMENT: HITT

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR JOB TITLE: HITT Director

Position Summary

Responsible for the maintenance of The Bellevue Hospital information systems including all hardware and software with particular focus on network servers and networking equipment. Communicates directly with vendors, acting as an agent of The Bellevue Hospital to resolve problems.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains, updates, modifies, and troubleshoots systems in the organization and remote sites as applicable.
  • Collaborates with end users to optimize workflows.
  • Schedules, coordinates and executes hardware/software upgrades as applicable.
  • Monitors technology performance to ensure proper operation.
  • Resolves emergent issues on call either remotely or on-site as appropriate
  • Install, configure, and support an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems or a segment of a network system.
  • Monitor network for to ensure network availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
  • Maintains, updates and monitors VMware server infrastructure including installing and maintaining virtual servers, and troubleshooting technical problems with both the hypervisor and underlying guest operating systems.
  • Maintains, updates and monitors the enterprise storage array including provisioning storage to the VMware environment.
  • Responsible for network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.
  • Administer network security measures assessing vulnerability risks and creating a plan to address vulnerabilities.

Non-essential Functions

  • Assists in the management of vendor relationships including overall vendor communications and vendor/product management
  • Writes reports upon request as applicable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent education/experience in computer science or similar discipline
  • Knowledge of virtualization and storage infrastructures.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer hardware, server/network and workstation environment and various operating platforms.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer software and data communications including routers, hubs, switches and firewalls.

  • Must be able to read and comprehend instructions, policies and procedures. Apply common sense to carry out instructions given in written or oral form. Ability to reason and make critical judgments.
  • Must be mentally alert and detail oriented, capable of dealing with a diversity of tasks and interruptions. Able to organize, prioritize, and perform daily tasks with a minimum of supervision.

Physical Requirements

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
