TITLE: Environmental Services Technician

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR JOB TITLE: Environmental Services Director
Position Summary
Works under the supervision of the EVS Director to clean the furnishings and physical environment of the hospital and satellite offices, manage and process clean and soiled linen. Dispose of all waste in compliance with federal, state and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols.
Essential Functions
- Cleans assigned areas following establish polices to provide a clean and safe environment of care.
- Maintains and operates various types of cleaning equipment, both mechanical and electrical.
- Handles clean and soiled linen in accordance to standard precautions. All linen clean or soiled are covered during transportation and par levels are maintained. Trash streams are kept separate from source to final disposal and transported in covered containers.
- Maintains compliance to EPA standards for the transportation, packaging, holding area and documentation for infectious/hazardous waste.
- Establishes personal goals that align with the departmental goals.
Non-essential Functions
- Actively participates in process improvement, hospital committees/projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read, write as well as understand written and oral instruction. An understanding of simple math concepts.
- Attends departmental and employee meetings and educational in-services as assigned.

- Is able to handle multiple tasks by organization and prioritization working within time frames.
- Works independently
Physical Requirements
Very Heavy Work – Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Heavy Work.
