TITLE:  Certified / Non-Certified Surgical Technologist    
DEPARTMENT:  Perioperative Services   
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR JOB TITLE:   Director of Perioperative Services   
Position Summary

 A member of the surgical team who works under the supervision of surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and diagnostic surgical procedures. Ensures that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.

Essential Functions

 

  • Participates in quality improvement activities through identifying, implementing, and monitoring process changes.
  • Integrates experience and critical thinking skills to ensure safe medication delivery.
  • Collaborates and effectively communicates with other professional disciplines to ensure holistic patient care delivery and achievement of patient outcomes.
  • Knowledgeable and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.

Non-essential Functions

 

  • Assists with restocking OR suites as needed.
  • Completes daily and monthly tasks and competencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Position Requirements

 

  • Graduate of a surgical technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and Accreditation Review Committee for Surgical Technology (ARC-ST).
  • Current certification through the National Board of Surgical technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). If non-certified, obtain certification within two years of hire.
  • Able to work weekends, holidays, and take call time as required.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS
