IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR JOB TITLE: Director of Perioperative Services

Position Summary

Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the perioperative services area for all patient populations. Prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care provided throughout the hospital. Responsible for meeting all standards associated with performance, nursing practice, nursing care and hospital policies. Patients receive nursing care based on a documented assessment of their needs.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure holistic patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes.
  • Collaborates and effectively communicates with surgeons, anesthesia and staff to promote patient safety.
  • Analyzes information, develops and implements plan of care, evaluates results and makes adjustments as needed.
  • Integrates experience and critical thinking skills to ensure safe medication delivery.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities through identifying, implementing and monitoring process changes.
  • Documents patient care reflecting the patient condition and the care provided.

Non-essential Functions

  • Assists with restocking OR suites as needed.
  • Completes daily and monthly tasks and competencies as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Ohio.
  • Previous surgical experience preferred but not required.
  • Able to work weekends, holidays and take call time as required.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS

  • Mentally alert and detail oriented, capable of dealing with a diversity of tasks and interruptions.
