TITLE: Secretary Receptionist

DEPARTMENT: Rehabilitation Services

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR JOB TITLE: Director of Rehabilitation Services

Position Summary

The Rehabilitation Services secretary is responsible for all clerical duties required for the normal operation of the Department including greeting and scheduling patients, maintaining logs, forms and reports and checking insurance benefit coverage’s.

Essential Functions

  • Acknowledges patients in a pleasant and professional manner when presenting at the front desk
  • Answers phone, screens calls, takes messages and relays information to appropriate staff
  • Maintains clear, concise patient schedule
  • Completes all preregistration forms needed for Patient Access
  • Verifies patient insurance benefits before patients’ initial appointment
  • Organizes and prioritizes daily workload with a minimum of supervision
  • Completes and maintains departmental daily and monthly logs, forms and reports in a timely manner
  • Presents clear, concise, organized information exchanges and interactions
  • Keeps Rehabilitation Director well informed of pertinent information relating to work issues and changes within the work environment that could impact services

Non-essential Functions

  • Assists other staff members during times of increased workload
  • Participates in quality improvement and competency activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills
  • Prior secretarial experience preferred
  • Medical Terminology
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS

Mental / Emotional Demands

  • Reads and comprehends instructions, policies, and procedures
  • Reasons and makes critical judgments
  • Mentally alert and detail oriented, capable of dealing with a diversity of tasks and interruptions
  • Remains calm and functional in a crisis or confrontation.

Physical Requirements.

Light Work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.ion Services
